From statement walls to black kitchen counters, interior design trends are often divisive.
And one style-savvy mother proved just how personal taste can be when she shared a list of her own pet peeves online.
Taking to Mumsnet, the woman revealed she cannot stand crushed velvet furniture, 'cheesy' wall stickers and wooden letters mounted on walls.
The post sparked a heated debate, with more than 600 users clamouring to share their own list of design faux pas.

Another posted: 'Bossy word art definitely isn’t on trend. Maybe it was 20 years ago.'
Crushed velvet proved similarly unpopular. 'I hate velvet, can't stand the feel of it,' one user wrote. 'It makes me feel uncomfortable.'
A second feisty user posted: 'Anyone who buys a crushed velvet sofa deserves to have the s*** ripped out them anyway.'
Grey walls might be in vogue with the rise of Scandinavian chic but it was far from a unanimous hit with posters.
One wrote: '[grey is] the colour of miserable winter skies and battleships.'
Someone else agreed: 'I don't like grey walls. It's such a depressing and oppressive colour but it seems to be really "on trend" right now.
However others defended their grey colour scheme. 'I’ve just painted my kitchen grey and I love it!,' one proud homeowner wrote.
