Rory McIlroy has said he may take the rest of the year off
McIlroy had a five-hole wobble on Friday, dropping four shots in quick succession, that left him facing a missed cut at a major for the second time this year.
However, he rallied to make the weekend and shot the best round of his week when he signed for 68 on Sunday.
But McIlroy remains unsure about what the rest of 2017 holds with an injury in his spine still leaving him unable to train as much as he would like.
“I’ve upped my practice coming into this event because I wanted to feel like I was in a good place with my game,” McIlroy said.

"Right now it’s tough because I can go out and play and shoot decent scores but when I come off the course, I feel this left rhomboid going into spasm and the inside of my left arm goes numb.
“I don’t know what to do. I’ve got this next week off to assess what I need to do going forward.
“April is a long way away and [the Masters] the next big thing on my radar.”
It suggests McIlroy could take an extended break from the game to deal with the injury that has troubled him since the beginning of the year.
The 28-year-old, who is also in the market for a new caddie, could choose to take time out from the game in an effort to end his major title drought that now stretches back almost exactly three years to the 2014 PGA Championship.
“I want to get back into that winners’ circle,” McIlroy added.
“You don’t want to be teeing off at 9.45am on the final round of a major on a Sunday. That’s not where you want to be.
“I’ve a good bit of time to get healthy and address a few things going forward.

“The next big thing is April and that's what my focus will be on from now until then.
“[The injury] is nowhere near as the Players whenever it flared up on me. But it’s there. I can feel it. If it’s there, I can play 18 holes if I warm it up.
“But once I get done, having to go through the whole routine to play again the next day, you shouldn’t have to do that.
“If I was injury-free, I wouldn’t have to do that.”
